Thank you. I needed this today. There are more of us than them. I hope that even more folks will realize it & join the cause to save our country from this insanity.
This piece discusses the differences between the United States and other countries that have fallen to authoritarianism. It is a very interesting analysis of why it is hard to centralize power here, and the ways in which we will be able to push back.
LOVED, loved this...here's an email I recently sent out to everyone I know in North Carolina (I try to always personalize my outreach/communications these days).

Boy, there's a lot going on right now...but, my recommendation—tune out the noise, but don't drop the signal.
I saw this and thought of you -- so hope you don't mind my passing along.
North Carolina
In-state partners are planning rallies across the state on February 15 - February 17 to protest Jefferson Griffin’s attempts to disenfranchise over 60,000 lawful voters and overturn the results of the NC Supreme Court race. More rally locations will be announced soon here.
They (MAGA/Tr*mp/Musk) are flooding the zone with sh*t to distract from their corruption and thievery—and they are doing the crime-ing in broad daylight. Their goal is to make us feel overwhelmed (shock and awe is a well-worn fascist tool of disorientation), so we turn away, whether out of fear, disgust, exhaustion, or apathy.
But here's how we can hold strong, by doing local things where we (and our community) can make a meaningful difference. I'm not asking you to fix the world's problems, but I am encouraging you to recognize this truth from Desmond Tutu:
If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.
This is great. I wish there was a short list of bullet points with pictures that we could use to make conversation with trump supporters and non-voters.
I would love to print this out and post it in front of my house for passers by to read. It would be awesome if this could be made into a text document and shared for people to print and paste in bathroom stalls, little free libraries, anywhere they feel safe to do so.
I was at the Rally to Restore Sanity. I really felt that Stewart and Colbert stopped the Republican takeover of the Senate with that rally. I also believe they bought us a few for years of sanity.
Brilliant. You made me feel so much better. Yes crime spree. Yes to all the shifts in language. Masterful! 👏👏👏
So very helpful!!! I will change my language.
There is so much we can do when we switch to using positive words, sorta like:
Saying someone is correct (not right)
Describing a type of (not kind of) person
Only the baddies get the bad words
Find good words for the good folks!

12 million MORE of us voted for someone other than Tr*mp since 2016.
He has NEVER gotten even 50% of the popular vote, let alone 33% of the eligible vote...
There are way more of us than them. Those who voted for trump likely have no idea what is truly happening. Once they wake up to it, they will join us.

OMG...just read this! What a brilliant and insightful piece. Am bookmarking and sharing widely.
Finally, some critical analysis that makes it clear that the wannabe emperor has no clothes for his authoritarian aspirations.
Thank you for sharing (along with your critical messaging insights)!
