"I suspect that this will turn out to be less about Trump and more about the sixty-year project by the global corporate-conservative alliance to convince our society that greed is good, kindness is weakness, and that government is the obstacle to our freedom, as opposed to the means by which we obtain freedom." - SAY THIS LOUDER. I think you are spot on.
As Brian noted, I track the seeds of our demise back to 1964 (Most notably the GOP Convention that year, beyond the CRA). But Antonia is spot on that we can't approach a post-mortem of this election blinded by rage. This has to be a process of inward reflection, and an acknowledgement that folks on the left need to figure out how to stop making "perfect" the enemy of "good." The progressive versus moderate fight means there is little consistent messaging coming from the left, and we need a better election strategy than "we fix the shit the GOP broke." Anyway, I just found this substack and am looking forward to seeing the thoughts it brings.

Your words of guidance, love and healing are helpful to me. Thank you.
This is the best thing I’ve read today. Thank you
You are much better at this than I am. So here is what I am thinking about what we must do in two months before the inauguration.
We can expect bad things to happen.
- arrests and deportation
- Stephen Miller to have a free hand where "the cruelty is the point"
- propaganda and disinformation
- militant groups encouraged to threaten and suppress citizens
- grift, corruption, scams and outright theft of public money
- more, you fill in the blanks
Fighting it with facts in real time won't work, we've tried that before.
Let's try saying in advance what will happen. And how it will be used to control your mind, control your actions, and control your money.
Maybe if we do this, and people see it happening as foretold, they can get on board against it. Including those who voted for it.
Not rampant doomsaying that can be waved away. But realistic forecasting of what happened four years ago and likely will happen again.

Rest well, Antonia, and then come back and frame our way forward!
Yes. We. Will. Care.
