Of course we must do our homework and know, according to reality, that our positions are right and moral. I think the point here is that proving our conclusions in front of voters is just not very effective (if it were, republicans would never win) and it often keeps us in the frame Republicans have chosen for the debate.. Rather, our goal should be to make the associations WE want to make.
it matters when we make logical arguments or have evidence to back up our positions because it helps us to stay real
