If I can't have Biden, I'll settle for Bidenism
We must double down on Joe Biden's empathy and economic populism.
I am heartbroken.
If you have not heard, President Biden has officially withdrawn from the race.
President Biden is the best guy we could possibly have had carrying the banner of the Democratic Party, and he will continue to provide moral leadership long after he hands the reins over to our next Democratic president.
Why were we able to win with Joe Biden where we couldn’t with Hillary Clinton? Quite frankly, Joe Biden made us look good. “Joey jobs” exudes empathy and appeals to working class voters like few other Democrats. We need people to understand that, while they can’t vote for Joe Biden, the man, they can still vote for Joe Biden, the Party.
Whoever we choose to represent us next, it had better be someone who carries forward Biden’s agenda.
On top of all his great accomplishments, Joe Biden represents a departure from neo-liberal elitism and a return to focusing on working people. He is the first President to fight back against the cruelty of Reaganomics. His administration has struck back against monopolies and price gouging. His handling of the economy has been beyond masterful.
I don’t know how this is going to move forward, but I believe with all my heart, that if we expect to win this election, we must double down on President Biden’s empathy and commitment to economic fairness.
More to come.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, that Joe’s empathy, and populism, his very persona… Am I the only one in shock? (of course not. I just have to say that.) I was embedded in conversation in the comment section of TC in LA remarking that he thought the big donors were beginning to see some error in their push that he drop out. Then I saw my email inbox and thought it was spam, inviting me to thank Joe for his service
Well, for starters, we’re kind of in the middle of things and somehow sending a thank you card has a sense of finality I’m not ready to support. I mean… we want to keep this simple but must admit it’s complicated. Watchful for your column and thank you for it. I just had to say this.
It is a strange time and I agree that doubling down on Biden's empathy and exonomic populism is the way to go...just who does this best... I don't have a lot of faith in voters, so I am concerned. I do hope the Democratic Party responds quickly and well. We have a lot of talent to choose from.
