This is so, SO good. I wish I had read it during a completely ridiculous discussion on NextDoor about CA's plan to open up Medicaid to undocumented adults recently. I hope your message is getting out! I think I came across you from Robert Hubble's NL. He wrote recently that we need to help bend the narrative with the media. And I'm subscribing- the only of a dozen substacks I read. Authoritarianism and fascism are really just about messaging: so your work is so important.
EXACTLY!!!!! This is the messaging going forward. Let us do everything to pass this along. It could, it should, be the main messaging strategy for 2024. Thanks Antonia!
I wish more traditional journalists used this to frame their messaging. Everyone is so tired of the toxicity that most people don’t want to even dip their toe into a political conversation.
Soooo good 👍. Thank you 🙏. I shared it on Threads with Joe and Kamala, my Democratic US Senator and my State Minority Leader. Lakoff’s Truth Sandwich principle of a 2:1 ratio of truth versus lies can be used here.
We’ve got to talk about the good AT LEAST twice as much as the bad - our values twice as much as their values and the fact that we are all human with a human need for safety and care. Pro-empathy freedom voters in and out of office are the caring political solution to a politics of cruelty.
I so, so appreciate your work. I've just been ruminating on a TikTok about "good government" or, rather, "government is good," and now I feel ready to make it.
I like to think of government as all of us, “We the people,” coming together to do what none of us can do alone, such as the Erie Canal project, the interconnected railroad, the interstate highway system, building infrastructure like roads and bridges, airports, and so on. In addition to building these things, we have to figure out how to pay the maintenance costs of maintaining it. We do these things to empower each other, all of us, everyone.
Love this. Sharing with my group Liberal Rocks. Yes, literal pebbles with positive liberal messages on them to perform this very task.

republicans have NOTHING GOOD TO OFFER - no stones for them

This is just what we need. I am signing up as a paid subscriber!
I came here to say the same.
"Some of the tactics that work for them don’t work for us, because we’re trying to achieve different things." So well put.
